Magis and Icastica 2014, Arezzo, Italy

The Architect Association of the Arezzo province advertised with Magis the competition Armchair Restart –opened to the under 35 Italian architects belonging to the association- to give a new interpretation of a classic of Italian design, the Magis Proust by Alessandro Mendini.
This initiative belongs to the cultural event Icastica 2014, which has been livening up the town of Arezzo since June (until October).
The best six projects were selected and then developped starting from the white Magis Proust placed at the architects’ disposal by Magis: the works resulting are now on display in the San Jacopo Square of Arezzo.
The armchairs Magis Proust were also protagonists of an event devoted to Alessandro Mendini, which took place on July, 15th at the Theatre Pietro Aretino, where Mendini talked about utopia in the contemporary architecture and design with the writer and design critic Chiara Alessi.
