Events

Magis, which has always been sensitive to environmental themes, has recently obtained the Greenguard Certification, a programme promoted and directed by UL Environment undergoing products to severe tests against chemical emissions in indoor spaces.

The Greenguard certified products distinguish themselves therefore by low emission levels in the air and by a minimum level of chemical emissions in indoor spaces.

Magis received the Greenguard Gold Certification, which offers even stricter certification criteria and considers safety factors to account for sensitive individuals (such as children and the elderly), ensuring in this way that a certified product is acceptable for use in environments such as schools and hospitals.

Magis obtained the Greenguard Gold Certification for the following products:

Air-Chair, Air-Armchair, Folding Air-Chair, Folding Air-Chair with arms, Chair_One, Stool_One, Cuscino Chair_One, Chair_One_4Star, Chair_One Public Seating System 2, Chair First, Steelwood Chair and Steelwood Stool.

Events

Magis products are part of the third installation at the Apartment 50, whose project was developed by Le Corbusier in the Cité Radieuse in Marseille between the late 40s and the beginnings of the 50s.
After Jasper Morrison in 2008 and the Bouroullec duo in 2010, this year it was Konstantin Grcic’s turn to develop an installation for this apartment (opened on July, 15th until August, 15th).
In accordance with Le Corbusier’s enigmatic colour scheme, Konstantin Grcic used only three colours (white, red and black): in this charming environment he included the most important pieces developed in his career and among them Chair_One, 360° Chair and 360° Container, Jerry and Venice designed for Magis.
As Grcic himself affirmed: “”apart from placing a selection of my favourite furniture and objects, I decided to tag the apartment walls with four scans from an original punk fanzine. This to underline the link between two unrelated worlds, that is Le Corbusier’s architecture and punk rock, because I find that both have a rawness and uncompromising spirit which I have always found beautiful””.

Magis at the Triennale Design Museum

Events

The new species is the title of the Magis installation at the sixth Triennale Design Museum exhibition, to be inaugurated on 5 April.
The architect Matteo Vercelloni designed it in a metaphorical key, to look like a kaleidoscope image, portraying the company’s vitality and its continuous technological and creative development.
At the center of the exposition space stands a circular platform that moves accompanied by background music, like a merry-go-round.
The carousel features a totem made of stacked Spun elements (design Thomas Heatherwick) surrounded by some chairs and by other pieces of the Me Too collection. These are the new Magis species, meaning new types of product that Magis breeds by cross-pollinating functionality with playfulness. On the three walls of the exposition space are a series of Déjà-Vu mirrors, which creates an infinite play of reflections. On the ceiling an illustration of symmetrical elements inside a kaleidoscope: these fragments are images of Magis’s most famous pieces.
