Abitare Talks – Design Trial

For the whole week of Salone del Mobile, the Italian design magazine Abitare put design on stage, and turned the Agorà theatre of the Triennale Design Museum into a platform of critical design talk with interview, conversations, presentation and video projections. On Thursday, 23rd it was the turn of the so called design trial: in a virtual court Abitare put to trial a new icon of furniture and product design, the office chair and stool 360° designed by Konstantin Grcic for Magis. A prosecutor (the designer Jonathan Olivares) and a defense attorney (Paola Antonelli, curator of architecture and design department of MoMa) analyzed and discussed the merits and defects of the design piece and interrogated the designer (Konstantin Grcic) and the producer (Eugenio Perazza, Magis president), who have been called called to the witness stand, in order to give detailed insight to contemporary design leaving the final verdict to the audience.
